Achievements Of Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg is the co-founder of the famous social media site Facebook. He is currently chairman and CEO of Facebook. He is also the co-founder of the solar board member spacecraft development project ‘Breakthrough Starshot’.

Mark Zuckerberg Education

Zuckerberg was born on May 14th, 1984 in White Plains, New York into a comfortable educated family. He studied at Harvard University. Facebook was officially launched in June 2004. He originally launched Facebook with his college roommates Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. He created Facebook so that students of Harvard were able to connect with each other. By the end of 2004, there were 1 million users.

Mark Zuckerberg Achievements

Mark was known to be a programmer prodigy and developed many computer games from the young age of 12 years. When he was still in college, he created a program ‘Zucknet’ which connected all the computers between the house and his father’s dental clinic. When Mark was in high school, he also created a program that recommended music a person liked. After his sophomore year, he got out of college to work on Facebook full time. He became the youngest billionaire in the world at the age of 23 in 2008.

In 2012 Facebook acquired the photo and video sharing app, Instagram and two years later, it acquired a messaging app for mobile, WhatsApp. Facebook along with other technological companies Samsung, Ericsson, MediaTek, Opera Software, Nokia, and Qualcomm launched internet.org to access selected internet services. Now, Facebook is also the 9.9% stakeholder of Jio.

A movie named ‘A Social Network’ based on the life of Mark Zuckerberg and his founding years of Facebook was released in 2010. The film received eight academy award nominations. He received several other awards like Person of the Year in 2010 by ‘Times’ Magazine, CEO of the Year in 2013 at 6th Annual Crunchies. He was also named four consecutive times from 2009 to 2012 on Time 100 list. Time 100 is a list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Facebook has grown leaps and bounds over the years and currently has more than a billion users. He is highly regarded all over the world for building the Facebook platform to revive old ties and friendships of school.

Mark Zuckerberg: Accomplishments

He built a miniature version of AOL’s messenger when he was just in his early teens. Mark Zuckerberg started to interact with computer programming at a very young age.

Zuckerberg’s relations with computer programming started at a very young age. In the 1990s, he learned Atari BASIC Programming from his father. When his father realized how gifted his son is as a programmer he employed David Newman to further nurturing his budding talents. Zuckerberg enrolled in a graduate computer course at Mercy College.

When he was only in his teens, he had successfully created a computer program “ZuckNet” by which his father’s home computers could communicate with the computers in his dental clinic. This one was an absolutely brilliant feat, while AOL developed a more sophisticated program the following year. Apart from this Mark Zuckerberg's achievements are many.

Joined a Firm That Created the Synapse Media Player

Right from the beginning, it was clear what path this programming genius wants to take in life. When he was in high schooler, Zuckerberg joined a firm called Intelligent Media Group, the same firm that built the Synapse Media Player.

While being in the firm he was exposed to a host of machine learning techniques that picked the listening habits of users. Zuckerberg worked on the product that received a 3 out of 5-star rating from PC Magazine.

Built an Academic Support Program Called Coursematch

Zuckerberg joined Harvard as a psychology and computer science student and had made a name for him as a programming whiz. This New York-born programmer in his second year successfully created a program called CourseMatch. This helped the students to take more informed decisions when selecting their classes. In it the students were also allowed to create study groups and have group discussions on the platform.

Mark Zuckerberg created Facemash

After the success of CourseMatch, Zuckerberg created another program; this time it was a non-academic program and was called Facemash; with this the students on the campus can vote for the most attractive student based on a set of photos.

However, when the site was active and running than the university authorities had to stop it because Facemash was interfering with Harvard’s internet connection. Zuckerberg sent a wholehearted apology to the University for the Inconvenience caused by his Facemash. Students also responded to him with a bit of harshness for not securing their permission before using their photos on Facemash.

Regarded As One of The Best Innovators Of The 21st Century

Mark Zuckerberg Awards hailed as one of the most innovative programmers of the 2nd century. It was his innovative vision and passion that helped Facebook to become one of the most successful companies in history.

In August 2013, he launched Internet.org – which provides affordable internet services to people in less developed countries. The project promotes increased connectivity around the globe. Zuckerberg considers the project extremely important as it will create several millions of new jobs which will, in turn, allow the youth to better contribute to the development of the country.
