Fortnite Developers Sued Again by Kid for Using The Floss Dance

Epic Games’s Fortnite used dance moves of popular pop culture as emotes in the game. In past Epic Games had allegedly used the iconic dance moves as animated emotes in their games for which the company had been sued many times by several celebrities who had taken such acts like an offense.

Recently, Instagram celebrity who is popularly known as the Backpack Kid sued the game developer for using The Floss Dance. The dance moves performed were popularized at the Saturday Night Live alongside Katy Perry by him where he performed it. The dance moves were used by Fortnite in an emote which they called Floss, available only during the Season 2 of this Epic game and to experience it players had to purchase the Battle Pass for Season 2. The Backpack Kid who is Russell Horning (Real name), has alleged that he noticed Epic Games using the Floss dance performed by him without any kind of permission or remuneration. Sometime soon Rapper 2 Milly also took a legal action against the Epic Games based in North Carolina, in his lawsuit he alleged that the company had misappropriated with his dance moves performed by him without any kind of permission, credit and compensation. The dance of 2 Milley was featured on the Fortnite in emote called as “Swipe It” and we saw the players buying it. Those dance moves were copied from the dance “Millie Rock” released back in the year 2011, and was later popular in 2015. At yet another case Alfonso Ribeiro, who played a role of Carlton on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, sued the developers Epic Games as well as 2K for misappropriating The Carlton Dance, known to be his trademark dance. The character of Ribeiro called Tom Jones, performed the dance in a part of that series and soon became a pop icon based on it. That dance was also included in the Fortnite as usually in the shape of emote named thereby as ‘Fresh’, and is a copy of his moves. The 2K studio used Ribeiro’s dance moves in its online basketball games and thus it has also been included in the said lawsuit. Some other games such as Blizzard’s known to be a classic game of the World of Warcraft, in it the blood elf characters showcases dances took up from the Britney Spears music videos and from the movie “Napoleon Dynamite”.
