No Homework for Classes 1 and 2

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has told the schools that no homework for the students of classes 1 and 2. The order from DOE is in acquiescence with the order of Madras High Court (MHC).
In September 14 circulars, The heads of government, government- aided, recognized unaided schools are herewith directed to ensure that no homework is prescribed to students of Classes I and II said DOE. M Purushothaman came on a request to seek the direction to the CBSE, to strictly stick to the syllabus prescribed by the NCERT.
On 29 May, The Madras High Court had ordered to all the schools which are affiliated to the CBSE should not give homework for class 1 and 2 students and also directed the board to conduct a surprise to check in schools using flying squads.
It had also ordered schools not to use textbooks that are not in line with the syllabus prescribed by the NCERT. The court had asked the same to CBSE to publicize.
Samarth Bansal said that the parent says regarding the order that it is good for children, when it is time for children to enjoy, schools give them loads of homework. I hope the schools abide by this order. The education department has to go check so that rules are not violated.
CBSE had also issued a circular in August, directing schools not to give homework to the students. The Minister for Human Resource and Development had assured IN June this year that the order of the Madras High Court will be followed.
