Sports is one of the most essential parts of a student’s life. We have often discussed how sports can help in ensuring the mental wellbeing and healthy functioning of the body. Physical fitness is the first and foremost thing that can make an enthusiasm towards working in a productive manner. Since the nation has seen a lockdown and is likely to maintain a social distance for the next few weeks too, the chances of going out and play with friends are still quite low. Outdoor sports are one of the ways that ensure physical fitness in a child’s life. But since the situation is likely to pertain for a few more days, here are a few indoor sports you can try in order to stay fit and enthusiastic at home.
Hula hoops
A hula hoop is a hoop made up of a hollow pipe. The sport looks quite easy yet a bit tricky to play. One has to keep the hula hoop spinning around the waist and keep it going the longest. The trick is to take it till the longest. Hula hoop improves body and brain coordination and helps greatly in burning calories. One can start a competition with their brothers/ sisters to make it more fun.
Jumbo roping
One can never imagine how interesting this sport can get. The sport basically involves skipping through the rope vertically across the body by one can increase the difficulty level for the same in whichever way they want. The athletes make twisted jumps, cross the rope before skipping, and the like. This game can become fun when played in competition with friends and siblings.
Headstand
Do nothing, just try to stand with your head upside down. In simple words, you have to stand in an inverted position, not on your feet but on your head. Start practicing in support of a wall initially. Try to hold it for as long as possible. It strengthens the core, muscles, and improves the functioning of the brain.
Hop Scotch
Use tape, chalk or your favourite paints to draw your hopscotch grid. Start a competition with your sibling and see how amazing it becomes for you. This sport can increase strength, balance, and can increase the eye/hand coordination greatly.
Dance
Half an hour of dance can usually be very useful for physical and mental health. Especially in ties like these, when we are staying at home all day, half an hour of dancing can boost your mood and energy. One can try dance forms like hip-hop and Zumba for more interesting results.
