Capital Punishment Is Not As Heinous As The Crime Committed By The Criminal
General News | Jun-23-2020
“An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”, is one of the oldest forms of justice, which we all today know as capital punishment. This is the severest form of punishment that can be given to a criminal, for indulging in a heinous crime. It means giving death to the convict by hanging them. There have been recent debates that taking an individual’s right is something which nobody has. But as we all know, in recent times only there have been crimes which are so evil and deadly that need the criminal to be punished deadly. Taking someone’s life with so much violence and terror is also a right which nobody has then why is punishing them this way a question?
Though the form of punishment is inhumane and cruel, a person committing such crime leaves us with no alternative but to punish the criminal the same way he committed the crime. This creates an example for the evil-minded people thinking to commit such a crime. Also, the death penalty can provide families of victims with some closure, which may help them to deal with their suffering. The innocents who were heinously killed by some cruel people for their sake. It also deters prisoners who are already serving life sentences in jail from committing more serious offenses.
The criminal laws today are much more humane today, otherwise, than they were centuries ago. During the earlier time, one could do minor stealing and theft and the death penalty would be given to him. The laws today are much more lenient and complex, hence killing the physiological fear in the minds of the criminals. Capital punishment is necessary to remove that fear from their minds and instead, instill a fear of committing any such crime in the future.
The Death Penalty can properly deliver justice to those who have killed others. It is necessary to deter Other Criminals which further protects the society in many ways. It helps the families of Victims to Move on Properly. Though it might not help them to forget the pain of their loved ones, at least helps them give justice. Capital punishment may sound inhumane to some people, but so is the crime committed by the criminals so why not?
