Defining Patriotism

The love and devotion one has for one country are known as patriotism. Patriotism urges a citizen to work selflessly and devotedly for their country. The true backbone of a developed country is its patriots. In patriotism, one thinks of their country before they think of themselves or anything else. Our country is considered our motherland. It raised us, gave us somewhere to stay, make our own identity, educated us by providing schools and Institutions, made us grow in our ways. At the end of the day, it is our task and duty to give all those things back to our country by respecting her and worshipping her. Patriotism is tested in times of war and pandemic: in most crucial times. A patriot should have the same feelings of love they have for their country as they have for their mother.

Patriots should work for their country, to make new technologies and helping the country in different other ways to make it better and bright, and even more developed. Patriots should work on removing the corruption their country is facing.
In the past, India saw some very courageous patriots, who gave their sweat, blood, and in many cases their life to make freedom. They sacrificed their lives to help their country flourish. Some of the great patriots of our country were Khudiram Basu, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Rani Laxmi Bai, and a lot more.

There is another term known as Pseudo-patriotism. Some citizens of the country think that they are patriots but neither they try to do any good, help their country in any way or have the devotion it needs to respect their country. But they live in an illusion about them being a patriot.

Thinking about one's country and its welfare is a very simple sign of patriotism. One doesn't need to sacrifice one life to do so.
