History Of Football

Football is a family of team sports that involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball to score a goal. Unqualified, the word football normally means the form of football that is the most popular where the word is used. Football’s modern origins began in England more than 100 years ago, in 1863. Rugby football and association football, once the same thing, went their separate ways and the Football Association, the first official governing body for the sport, was established. The first known ball game which also involved kicking took place In China in the 3rd and 2nd century BC under the name cuju. Cuju was played with a round ball (stitched leather with fur or feathers inside) on an area of a square. The need to come up with some official football rules became clear as the nineteenth century wore on. The different public schools wanted to play games against each other but struggled to do so because each had its own set of laws and rules for the game.

Only three teams have won the FA Cup without conceding a single goal during the entire competition. Don't expect to see any footage though. The Wanderers, who won it in 1873, Preston North End in 1889, and Bury in 1903., In 1954 Turkey knocked out Spain during a World Cup qualifier by drawing straws. As the sport developed, more rules were implemented and more historical landmarks were set. For example, the penalty kick was introduced in 1891. FIFA became a member of the International Football Association Board of Great Britain in 1913. Meanwhile, showing true Yorkshire grit, Ebenezer along with the eleven remaining clubs, went on to ratify the original thirteen laws of the game. Although some northern clubs remained loyal to the Sheffield Rules well into the mid-1870s, the FA continued to tweak its laws until there was little difference between the two games.
