Hockey- The National Game
General News | May-17-2022
Games play an important part in our life. In reality, they must form part and parcel of all of us they provide physical stamina. I am fond of playing games. I like many games such as Football, Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton, Cricket, Table Tennis, Kabaddi and Hockey. But Hockey is my favorite game in all of these games. Because Hockey is also the National game of India and it is played all over the country in all the states of India. I have been playing hockey since my childhood. For over a quarter of a century, we have been the world champion in this game. I like this game because in comparison to many other games that we also like to play as I mentioned above like Volleyball, Football, Tennis, Badminton, Kabaddi, cricket, table tennis, etc. it is the easiest game to learn, to play, to understand its rule, etc.
This is a team sport played between two teams. In this sport, a team requires 11 players on each side or in each team. There are 5 forwards, 3 halfbacks, 2 full back, and one goalkeeper. It is a game of short duration of time or we can say that this sport is time bounded sport. It is played for an hour and a half. One team has to defend the goal post from the current attacking team at the moment and this momentum keeps on shifting from one team to another team. This is how Hockey is played and the popularity of Hockey is increasing day by day in many countries are Holland, Pakistan, Germany, England, Netherlands, Australia, etc. all play the game very well. There is also a very keen competition at the international level among all the hockey-playing countries. This sport also teaches us that by teamwork, hard work, and confidence we can lead to success.
