Impact of Sports on Mental Health

As per WHO (World Health Organisation), mental health is “a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stress of life, can work productively and fruitfully and is able to make contributions to his or her own society”. Better mental health is essential for our life, as it controls our emotions, behavior, and thoughts and increases our self-esteem. Sport is basically an activity or a game that can be played outdoors and indoors as well. Sports are divided into several categories. Some people play it for fun and hobbies while others as their profession to earn money. Besides playing sport also have many advantages.
People can be physically healthy also can reduce some stress or play it after activity to refresh their minds. Some popular sports played worldwide are cricket, football, basketball, etc. Playing sports also makes us active and reduces the chances of anxiety and depression. We can improve the way we think and can be skillful for many other tasks. It can also lead to better living standards. People would get more calm and awake after playing sports. People can also be friendlier to others. It improves our way of sleeping which helps us to improve memory and refresh our overall mood which helps to actively participate in many other activities actively for a longer period of time. It can sometimes also improve some mental illness. The sport enables us to get a disciplined mind which helps us to tackle various situations with a good solution. People can also achieve their goals with or without any problem with a disciplined mind. Team sport teaches us teamwork. A disciplined mind tells that think before you do. Good mental health will give us the ability to concentrate for various things. There are some famous slogans:
1- “A healthy mind, is the greatest treasure to find”.
2- “Practice some exercise to be Healthy, Wealthy and Wise”.
