Language does not only differ in different countries but also in different districts and states. Therefore to unify the world to communicate better, English was the designated language. It was developed in the 5th century and was a mix of many other languages including French, Latin, and Sanskrit.
English is important for many reasons-
1. Work/Outsourcing
Many companies throughout the world are used as outsourcing by gigantic companies based in the US/UK. To communicate to the English-speaking companies, the employees of the smaller companies have to learn their language.
2. Historic forces
When Britain and other English-speaking countries took over the weaker countries, they were forced to learn English. To know English at that historical period was a scene of tremendous pride.
3. Communicating
When one travels to places, where they do not understand the native language English becomes a medium of communication.
4. Higher education
There are fewer native language courses than the courses taught in English. Courses are taught in English so that the students can be employed in any English-speaking country whether native or not.
5. Superiority
When the British took over underdeveloped countries, to know English was superior. The lower level people thought that for being the level of a Britisher they had to learn their language,i.e. English.
6. Studying abroad
Many people go to international colleges and schools to get superior education. Most of these institutions are in English-speaking countries therefore, having a base in the English language is necessary.
In India, English is still considered the language of higher-class people. Major production houses, publishing houses, and education institutes all come under English-speaking countries therefore to be great in one career English is a need.
