Importance Of Social Distancing

COVID-19 is transferred mainly among people who are nearby (within 6 feet) over an extended time. When an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, droplets from their mouth or nose spread into the air and settle in the mouths or nostrils of those who are nearby. In addition, the droplets can be inhaled into the lungs. According to recent research, those who are infected but do not show symptoms are likely to help spread COVID-19. As people can spread the virus before they even realize they're sick, it's vital to keep at least 6 feet away from others at all times, even if you or they don't show any symptoms. For persons who are at a higher risk of severe disease from COVID-19, social distancing is very important. If you have COVID-19, have symptoms that are consistent with COVID-19, or have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, it is critical that you stay at home and away from other people until it is safe to do so.

COVID-19 can survive on a surface for hours or days, depending on conditions such as sunshine, humidity, and surface type. It's possible that a person could contract COVID-19 by touching a virus-infected surface or object and then touching their mouth, nose, or eyes. However, this isn't regarded to be the virus's initial mode of transmission. Outside the home, social separation reduces the chances of coming into contact with infected surfaces and infected persons. COVID-19 can be received and transferred by anyone, regardless of their risk of severe illness. Everyone can help slow the spread of the disease and safeguard themselves, their families, and their communities. Keeping space between yourself and others is one of the finest tools we have to avoid being exposed to COVID-19 and delaying its spread in communities, in addition to taking routine actions to prevent it.
