Indian Cinema: Evolution And Impact On Society

Movies for a fun time? We all like to enjoy time by watching movies, It just relaxes our mind. Any Indian-origin movie melts our bodies and makes them connect with the audience with the help of a fusion of action, drama, comedy, and many more. When you think of Indian cinemas, Bollywood always pops into your mind at first.

Where it begins

From the Silent era to the first voice. Indian movies all started in the early 20th century when there were no voices in the movies until the movie Alam Ara released in 1931, the transition to talkies.

The post-independence period was a big change where Indian movies became popular which is known as the golden era. This success is contributed by legendary filmmakers like Satyajit Ray, Bimal Roy, and Guru Dutt, known for their realistic portrayals and artistic excellence.

The Expansion

Different artists and Big minds from different states made their movies in their industry. Such as Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali. There was a severe increase in technological advancements in the industries like color, better quality, wider screens, and advancements in special effects.

Recognition

India was being itself and not carrying other cultures. The movies that had the culture and tradition of India were getting recognition from across the globe. This was possible because movies like Lagaan, Slumdog Millionaire, Salaam Bombay, and Mother India were a blockbuster and turned many Indians.

Society into a Better Place

Some movies in India that are patriotic and inspirational touched the hearts of the citizens which led them to a better way of life. Some movies even comment on the way of life, Pollution, Poverty, Corruption, Regional intolerance, and Gender equality which changed millions of lives. Movies like Dangal, Taaree Zammeen par, Pink, and many more influenced public discourse.

Greater Influence

It changed the fashion trends, lifestyle choices, and language. Iconic dialogues, fashion statements by actors, and film-inspired merchandise impact Indian pop culture. It changed the mindsets of people- The themes of women's empowerment, LGBTQ+ rights, and caste discrimination have been explored in films.

Profits

It changed the Indian economy, boosting it completely. The Indian film industry generates economy and revenue for the country, making Indian film industry a major role in India.
