Is It Ok To Be Selfish Sometimes?
General News | Sep-09-2021
Some say it's okay to be selfish sometimes, take care of yourself, love yourself, nurture yourself. Others say it's corrupt to put yourself first and keep others' needs as secondary. Everything is okay till you don't traverse the limit, so if you have the limit in mind being selfish is okay, especially during these puzzling times.
When the word "selfish" crosses our mind, we think of others giving more weight to their needs and others' less. This kind of selfishness incorporates gluttony, lack of humanity, caring; one can be named disrespectful or overbearing for this. The misleading kind of selfishness is when you start taking benefit of people in the name of prioritizing your needs. It can start with a lot of negativity which will lead to disputes and later a war. This type of selfishness leads you into strain. The genuine kind of selfishness allows you to be considerate to others because you were generous to yourself first. You have to prioritize your wants; you have to put yourself first; you matter first, then the world. Remember, if you don't want to do something, nobody can force you, so why force yourself? Learn to say 'no' sometimes.
When; we're told to adjust our oxygen masks first before helping others in a flight emergency. Nobody can call us selfish. You matter the most in your life. No matter how much you or the others around you want to change this or dissent with it, it's the truth in the end. You are your favorite; you have to know yourself first; you have to relish that spark in your eyes. You have to do this for good mental health. This world won't remember you if you start to forget who you are.
Learn to pamper yourself the most, compliment yourself first, and remember it can be self-love, self-care, self-respect but never selfish.
