The Indus Valley civilization is known for the existence of several abandoned cities. Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa, Dholavira, Lothal, Kalibangan, Rakhigarhi, and Ganeriwala stand as key cities within the Indus Valley civilization. Among them, Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro hold special significance.
But there are many abandoned cities across Pakistan and India. So we can learn about a few Indus Valley civilizations
Harappa
Harappa is one of the key cities in the Indus Valley civilization. It has been successful for 4000 years. In the current situation, it is in Pakistan. The peoples of Harappa is good at planning cities. And building tall buildings.
Mohenjo-Daro
Mohenjo-daro is a vital city of the ancient valley civilization. The city has existed for over 4000 years. It had well-organized streets, tall buildings, and smart ways to deal with dirty water. People back then had a secret way of writing but still, now we didn’t find the meaning. The city disappeared suddenly without giving any clues
From all of these, we can understand that the cities of ancient times were good at urban planning, building tall buildings and building of elaborate drainage systems, and baked brick houses
They were mysteriously abandoned, living behind clues with no definite answers.
The theory says that the cities may have been destroyed by several factors such as drought, environmental changes, Aryan migrations, and trade decline.
Another theory says that internal conflicts and internal problems
By using modern technologies, archeologists find new insights into lost cities which are filled with mysteries like pottery, coins, tools, and seals. These findings raise more questions and answers. Each finding will give the key to unlocking new secrets of history.
The old cities make us more interested in history. As archeologists dig deeper into secrets, we can understand why the ancient civilizations declined and vanished. These remind us how we should protect and learn the history of ancient civilizations.
