Quidditch: From Fiction To Fact

Quidditch may be a sport invented by J.K. Rowling for her fictional world of Harry Potter. It's a wizarding sport played on broomsticks and consistent with the characters from the wizarding world, it's the foremost popular and well-known game like Muggle’s (non-magic folks) passion for football (Soccer). Due to the mass popularity of the fictional world, Quidditch is now a real-life sport too. The sport has gained great momentum; many colleges and dozens of high schools have teams. there's even a 16-team pro league, big league Quidditch, also as international competitions.

Quidditch is played on a grass field with a soft boundary area that's 60 yards long and 36 yards wide through the hard boundary area is 84 yards long by 48 yards wide. There are three hoops of varying heights on each end of the sector. The corners are almost like those of a hockey rink therein they're curved.

Five balls are live during Quidditch matches: The Quaffle, which may be a volleyball; three Bludgers, or dodgeballs; and therefore the Snitch, a ball. The Quaffle is used to earn points, while the Bludgers are used to temporarily "knock-out' players. The Snitch is that the ball that has got to be caught to finish the sport.

The team consists of the following players-

1 Keeper (green headband): Guards the hoops

2 Beaters (black headbands): Throw Bludgers to "knock out" opponents

3 Chasers (white headbands): Try to score points with the Quaffle

Plus: The Snitch

The team that scores the foremost points wins. Teams score points in two ways: when the Chasers throw the Quaffle through one among the rings from either side of the hoop (10 points), and when a team's Seeker catches the Snitch (30 points). The Snitch enters the sport at the 18-minute mark of every match. The match comes to an end when the Snitch is caught by either of the snitches. The match starts with the Quaffle and Bludgers at midfield, and on the referee's signal, each team races to urge possession.

GENDER MAXIMUM RULE

Quidditch, including governing bodies like U.S. Quidditch, prides itself on being inclusive. thereto end, it employs what's referred to as the gender maximum rule. consistent with the U.S. Quidditch website, no quite four players per team who identify because of the same gender are often on the pitch at a time; that number increases to 5 when Seekers are live.

Furthermore, U.S. Quidditch accepts those that don't identify within the binary gender system and acknowledges that not all of our players identify as male or female, making it an inclusive sport.
