Should Athletes who use Steroids should be Banned?
General News | Dec-12-2021
Sports and Athletics are an integral part of a large population throughout the world. Hence the craze and involvement in various tournaments with huge participation are also common which in turn give rise to "Athletic Competition".
Every individual desire to excel in their field by any means which are sometimes fair and sometimes unfair or illegal. "Drug Consumption" for enhancement of performance is one such common case nowadays. Athletes consume illegal drugs to improve their skills and one such drug is ANABOLIC STEROID (also known as 'anabolic-androgenic steroids).
Anabolic Steroids are an artificial version of the hormone: 'Testosterone'. There are used by health care providers for the treatment of problems such as muscle loss. But in this competitive world, there is always a bad use of any invention. Some fitness trainers, bodybuilders, and even athletes use anabolic steroids to build muscles and improve performances.
Though these anabolic steroids improve the performances as there we know excess of everything is bad, here also excess of steroids or long period consumption of steroids lead to serious health hazards. The misuse of these steroids is neither legal nor safe. The athletes take these steroids through various means like injecting them into muscles, applying them to the skin as gel or cream; and these doses can be much higher than ordinary ones used to treat medical conditions. Improved and enhanced performances make athletes also addicted to taking anabolic steroids even neglecting the side effects caused to their body. They ignore the negative impact of these steroids in their greed of increasing their mass and strength by promoting muscle-building.
The professional athletes began to overdose the anabolic steroids, hence it was considered an unfair and illegal activity. Keeping in mind all these consequences and negative effects, it should be mandatory for all organizations and federations to ban the athletes if detected with 'Steroid Consumption'. This would provide fair competition to all and even prevent the consumer from ruining its own body.
