The History of Using Math in Baseball

Baseball is played all around the world, and though it is not much popular in India in certain countries it is very much popular. Baseball is a popular sport in the United States (US), Dominican Republic, Canada, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Iraq, Afghanistan, Panama, Australia, etc. The game evolved from the older bat and ball games already being played in England by the middle- 18th century. This game was brought by immigrants to North America, where the modern version was developed. By the late 20th century, baseball was widely recognized as the national sport of the United States.

Baseball is a team sport played between two teams of 9 players each. Baseball is played on a diamond-shaped playfield. Four corners of Diamonds are the home plates' first base, second base, and third base. The objective of baseball is to score more runs than your opposition team by hitting the ball as far as you can before running around the four bases to complete a run. The team that scores the most runs by the end of the 9th innings wins the game. So here we can see that if we have to play Baseball we should know basic maths because baseball match is used very frequently. Maine rules of baseball use match at every point.

The one very much popular branch of mathematics for which baseball is used is statistics. Now there are statistics for just about everything in baseball whether it will be a player's batting average, on-base percentage, number of home runs, how many times is he up to bat, etc. When you watch any baseball game you will see quite often statistics on every single player and when the commentators talk about those statistics are being fed to them by the people upstairs whose job is to bring up statistics of the player, team, etc. Those statistics especially on the part of individual players then lead to contracts which is the amount of money that a player would make every year. The better a player performs the more money that would get added to their contract and the loss they perform of course they don't make as much many over years.

So, that gives you a glimpse as to how much maths is used in baseball.
