All sports are a little weird if you think about it. If you take away the money, personality, and fan count, then there comes some of the weirdest sports to be simulated. Everyone is well aware of football, cricket, basketball, hockey, baseball, etc. But there are hundreds of sporting variations all over the world and some are quite strange. Competition can include anything, from tossing tuna to wrestling with toes to playing hockey underwater. Most of the weird sports that have been formulated have been played at least once and some are played more and more until they have significant followers. This article features 10 such strange but successful sports.
1- Chessboxing
Chessboxing is a fusion sport that includes two traditional sport, chess, and boxing. Chess is an intellectual board game whereas boxing is a physical sport. The players compete in alternative rounds of chess and boxing. The match between two players consists of up to eleven alternating rounds of boxing and chess. In starting, there is four-minute chess round and then a three-minute boxing round. The competitors get 1 minute of pause for changing their gear between the rounds.
2- Snail Racing
Snail racing is an amusing sport that involves two or more land snails. Most of this game takes place in the United Kingdom. Usually, the common garden snail is used in this racing sport. The race track standard is set to 13 or 14 inches, the racing numbers or country flags are painted or small tags are placed on the shells of the following snails to differentiate each competitor.
3- Hockern
Hockern is a sport originated from Germany that comes under the bizarre sports of the world as it consists of a lot of things to be performed at one time, sitting, dancing, and spinning. It is very tough to tell exactly what this is. The player has to sit on a specially designed stool called Sporthocker, spin it around the air, do a handstand and then briskly sit on it once again. No move is considered as a move until it ends with the player sitting on the stool. This sport can be played as a single or as a coincide team.
4- Bossaball
Bossaball is a team sport that is derived from Spain and was conceived by Belgian Filip Eyckmans in 2005. Bossaball is a ball game between two teams, integrating elements of volleyball, football, and gymnastics with music. It is played on a pneumatic court featuring a trampoline on each side of the net. You can strike the ball one time using your hands and double using your feet or head when the ball is on your side of the net. A team can hit the ball up to 5 times before they must try and get the ball into their opponents' court.
5- Toe Wrestling
Tow Wrestling is a sport that consists of two opponents who lock feet and strive to pin each other’s foot down with no time limit. It is very similar to Arm Wrestling, it is just played with the foot. This sport is originated in England. There is a World Toe Wrestling Championship held annually in England.
