Cosmic Rays Observed by Earth

The scientists from India and Japan have captured the moment when a huge cloud containing hot gases, released from the Sun battered Earth's magnetic shield. Due to these activities, the magnetic shield cracked and the harmful cosmic rays entered into the Earth, discovered the artists using the GRAPES-3 telescope at Ooty, Tamil Nadu.

The scientists stated that this incidence has flattened the Earth’s magnetic shield from 11 to 4 times the radius of Earth. According to the scientists, many high latitude countries have got affected by this event. With the occurrence of cosmic rays, the risk of various geomagnetic hurricane and radio signal blackout has increased, said the scientists.

The scientists explained that the plasma cloud struck the Earth when it was roving at a mind-boggling speed of 2.5 million kilometers per hour. The researchers have claimed that the Earth felt the cosmic ray shower for long two hours. The research was led by scientists from India included those from TIFR, Bose Institute, Kolkata and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune.
