Food Grows Where The Water Flows!

Drought
Drought is usually explained as a period of flashy impetuosity in a region, resulting in extended shortages in water supply. Droughts can last for months or years, and can throw major affects on the environment, ecosphere and agriculture.
Why Prepare?
Drought can lead to inadequate supplies of water for drinking, household chores, fire repression, and agriculture. Water sources, like, groundwater, lakes and rivers can be impacted, at a large scale and can sequel in loss of water supply, crop injury, and notable effects on the environment.
Before and at the time of drought, taking important steps to lower water usage both inside and outside your home can help you save water and lessen the impacts to availability of water contribution. Initiatives for saving water should be made by both consumers of municipal water supplies, as well as private owners.
Drought Survival Tips
These tips are for planning ahead for the possibilities of water scarcity, ideas for conserving water and sources for gathering water.
Pre-planning
• Monitor the area conditions and create a plan for the same.
• Rain barrels need to be Purchased or other resources for collecting rain water.
• Learn techniques to conserve water around the house.
For Kitchen-
• Make sure the dishwasher should be filled before turning it on. Dishwashers should be used between 8 & 12 gallons of water per load.
• Always make sure that clothes washer is full before switching it on. Each load of laundry normally requires 50 gallons or more of water.
• Use a bowl full of water to clean fruits and vegetables rather than sprinkling water over them. Always reuse the water in the bowl to water your plants.
• DON'T open the tap while washing dishes.
For Bathroom-
• A major part of house water is consumed in Bathroom.
• Fill the bath tub only with half water.
• Always take a short shower that saves 3-5 gallons of water a minute.
• Never use the toilet as a waste basket. Always throw trash in a bin and avoid flushing unnecessarily trash.
• DON'T leave the tap opened when you brush your teeth or wash your hands.

*Never put water down a drain that can be used for something else such as watering a garden or cleaning floor.
