Government Plans to Encourage Children to Teach their Elders

Padhega India tabhi to badhega India. Does this slogan only apply to the young generation? Indeed No. Not just children or young people need to be literate but also it is important for the adults to be educated. For a country to grow and develop it is extremely important for its citizens to be literate. Education also helps in many other ways such as changing and modernizing the mind-sets of the citizens thereby reducing crimes of social nature and ill practices that are till today a part of our society.

Educated India will also be able to represent itself in a better way even on international platforms. On the same lines, the Union Minister Prakash Javadekar, declared that the Centre is formulating a scheme wherein the children will be encouraged to teach their adults such as their illiterate parents, grandparents, other relatives at home. He visited one of the family in Jaipur city and requested the children to teach their illiterate grandparents. The Union Minister informed that it will take 2 months for the scheme to be fully prepared and be launched. He being the BJP’s poll in charge took feedback from the people about government and its work in the last five years. At this occasion State Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf, Mayor Ashok Lahoti and other party leaders were also present. Alongside, in a recent press conference, Prakash Javadekar also introduced new regulations for the appointment of teachers and more. These regulations have been aimed at improving the standards in the field of higher education. These are as follows:

(i) The Ministry of HRD has scrapped the Academic Promotion Index (API) based PBAS system. The same has been replaced by a teacher evaluation grading system.

(ii) The incentive to the teachers and subsequent amendments made in that regard have been kept intact.

(iii) The Promotion criteria under CAS (Career Advancement Scheme) for university teachers has been made more research oriented. On the contrary, the college teachers CAS criteria are more focused towards teaching.

(iv) The provision of promotion in the colleges will be up to the professor level for the first time ever.

(v) Special provisions have been formulated for the recruitment of assistant professors in universities and colleges for PhD degree holders from a university/institution in the top 500 global rankings.
