Silver Lining For Professional Counseling: Little Knowledge And Surplus Opportunities

India is an education sector with deficit counseling, and has around 1 lakh of career advisors, while it needs less than 15 lakh of career advisors to satisfy the student market (currently 315 million students). In comparison, the United States has approximately 2.6 million student counselors for 56 million students!
In addition to the usual pressures of competition, the expansion of options in a rapidly changing global business environment, disruptive technologies in the information age and a highly volatile labor market, are the choice of a career choice for all life a great challenge for students and parents alike.
Mindler talks about the lack of career counselors in India. What is the current scenario of the demand for employment? Which regions have the greatest demand and how to predict this sector for professionals?
Professional guidance has never been as important as it is today. In the current scenario, when you take into account that more than 93 percent of the schools have no career counselors, there are more than 250 careers to choose from and there is a shortage of almost 14 lakh of career counselors trained in the country today. The day Surprising that career guidance has emerged as a career option in high demand! According to the reports of MHRD, EY and the KPMG market report on K12 education, the market size for career evaluation and guidance is over INR 5,000 in India alone and is continuously growing. Developmental outcomes are increasingly improving the impact of career guidance in aligning students with the right choices and, therefore, in nation building.
Most of the works are in cities such as Bengaluru, Gurgaon, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai and Calcutta. Therefore, the need to direct students to careers to careers is naturally higher here. But there is a growing demand for level 2 and 3 cities such as Lucknow, Indore, Surat, Raipur, Dharamshala, where there is a growing awareness but little access to high quality professional advice. As this awareness is filtered, this demand for professional counselors will increase exponentially. The rapidly changing national and global labor market, especially in the AI era, will ensure that professional counselors continue to grow in importance.
Why has the level increased to this level? What can force people to think seriously about counseling as a career?
For a country with the largest student population in the world, such a large shortage of career counselors is not good at all. A key reason for this mismatch can be attributed to a lack of traditional understanding of its importance. It was common for young people to seek informal support from friends and family around their career options, however, a visible requirement for career guidance.
Another reason is the need. In the pre-liberalization era, there were very few career options known and most have followed in the footsteps of their parents. Since then, the labor market and the educational scene have become a root cause of technology interruptions and options have exploded, awareness of the importance of receiving professional information. Therefore, India is looking at a shortage of 1.4 million career counselors today. What is surprising is that in the current scenario, there is little awareness among students and parents about the large number of career options (more than 250). A recent survey by Mindler showed that an amazing 93% of students only knew 7 career options!
Vocational counselors have a great reach in the world today with a greater number of career options According to statistics, 86 percent of students are very concerned about choosing the right career and 92 percent today. In the recent era, parents are very concerned about their children's careers and professional counselors can reveal the right path to success. The remuneration is high, and the growth is constant due to the high demand. Jobs in various fields that entry into the game, career guidance is becoming an integral part to ensure future professional success. The mentality of the parents, the teaching community and the students are undergoing a paradigm shift and we will see more and more people choose career guidance as a career.
