The Mysterious Relationship between Mice and Their Babies

Have you ever imagined how the mice and their baby pups coordinate with each other? Scientists have discovered the tangled relationship through a study. This new study shows that neuronal circuits responsible for ultrasonic calls uttered by mouse pups. Additionally, the scientists have also identified that the calls of new-born mice depict the attention of their mother. Are you also wondering how?

This essential process happens through a group of neuronal cells in the brain stem. This brain stem coordinates breath and tension of muscles in the larynx. Additionally, without these cells the mice are uncommunicative. Scientists added that the cells of the nucleus tractus solitarii (NTS) are connected to cells that control tension in the abdominal muscles. This process takes vigorous exhalation and the muscles in the larynx. The nucleus also gets sensory information from the vocal folds, the lung, and tongue.

This research had been conducted by a very talented research team at the Max Delbrück Center in Berlin.
