A Vast Hot Gas Void in Universe
Editorials News | Nov-10-2017
For the very first time missing matter has been found in our Universe. It has been detected by the scientists and is a matter of pride for them. The missing matter is present in the form of strings of hot gas linking galaxies. This was actually uncounted for by previous space observations.
Models of the universe predicted that there should be about twice as much ordinary matter than what has been observed so far. The missing matter was found by the researchers from the Institute of Space Astrophysics in France and University of Edinburgh in the UK. The missing matter is made up of particles called baryons and it links galaxies together through filaments of hot and diffused gas. Also, to directly observe this gas, there has been no instrument that has been invented yet.
Researchers noted a phenomenon called the Sunyaev-Zel’dovich effect that happens when light left over from the big bang passes through hot gas.
