Pencak Silat is a term used for a class of related Indonesian Martial Art forms. It is a full body fighting that incorporates different kinds of strikes, grappling, throwing and also weaponry. It is quite a pleasant surprise to know that this Martial Art form which is barely known in the Indian Sub-continent, but for Boynao Singh of Manipur and several other girls from very poor families in Haryana this sport is their way to a better future. India will be fielding three Pencak Silat participants making their debut in the Asian Games in Indonesia later this year. The Participants are Boynao Singh from Manipur, Sonia and Simran from Haryana.

Kurash yet another ancient form of Wrestling from Uzbekistan which dates back thousands of years has made its place in the Asian Games. It is quite like Sumo minus the huge size, Kurash main focus lies on strength and stamina. The wrestlers use towels to hold their opponents and rounds or bouts are won by either throwing of tripping opponent on their back. India will be sending fourteen athletes to compete in Kurash at the Asian Games. For their preparation these athletes have been sent on a 19 days training camp to Uzbekistan.
