
Attractive Wind Energy Pricing for Purchasers

Annual Wind Report has confirmed advancements in technology, improvements in performance and low wind prices. The annual report has been released by the US Department of Energy. This report presented that the wind energy pricing for land – based, utility – scale projects still exists attractive to utility and commercial purchasers.
The newly built wind projects in the U.S.A. offered prices averaging around 2¢/kWh. Also, it is driven lower by advancements in technology and reductions in cost. The annual report was prepared by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab). Ryan Wiser who is the senior scientists at Berkeley Lab said that the wind energy prices which is supported by federal tax incentives are at all-time low particularly in central United States. He also added that utilities and corporate buyers are selecting wind as the low-cost option.
The U.S. Department of Energy’s “Wind Technologies Market Report” presented their key findings and said that bigger turbines are enhancing wind project performance. The Lab’s contributions to this report were funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
