Bengaluru School Brings Up Idea of Power Generation

The judicious use of resources is immensely important for India. Lately, Vidyashilp Academy, which is a private school in Jakkur, a suburb outside Bengaluru, has set up a paper recycling unit on its campus. This shall help in generation of power upon everyday use. On a daily basis, this unit generates almost 800 sheets of recycled paper on campus.
The plan of action is actually given a shape as all the paper waste is collected all across the departments from various bins placed in several buildings placed strategically all inside the buildings. For running the units to recycle, which has a capacity to utilize recycling 50 kg of waste. Currently the school has employed 5 peoples and uses 5 units (kilowatt per hour) of the electricity and 350 litres of water. All the recycling paper units are being set up in a small room, it consists of some machines for recycling and the steps are followed as pulping, screw pressing, drying and then smoothening the paper. Now the newsletters distributed in schools are being published by using the recycled papers which are directly produced by the school. Apart from the newsletters, school also makes the file folders, photo frames, and calendars, carry bags, notebooks, dairies, lamp, pencil holders, colour sheets and shades. As enumerated, till the date, the school seemed to have been saving 4,223 trees along with around 59 lakhs litres of water it also helped providing one-month electricity to 10,931 households and it also helped around 7,453 underprivileged children that too just by recycling 2,48,440 kg of the city newspapers. In an interview to Deccan Herald the official of the school said that, that they get the paper waste from various enterprises which exist around the school and various parents whose children’s are enrolled in school also contribute in this mission in putting the waste papers to the good use of society and renewable energy. The school reuse the waste papers and thus stop them going inside the landfill. So by this method, children not only tend to make their surroundings cleaner but also it will help them to become responsible citizens. The school staff also believes that every institution shall be responsible for its waste that it generates and it can evolve an appropriate method of garbage disposal should be undertaken as it will be eco-friendly.
