Bihar Students Are Ordered To Wear Slippers For An Entry in Class 10th Exams

Students who will be wearing shoes and socks will not be allowed to enter the examination halls, the Bihar School Examination Board said in official notification.
In a surprising step to curb cheating in the examinations of the board, the government of Bihar today issued an order. According to this order, it becomes mandatory for students who are appearing for the Class 10th exams to wear slippers instead of shoes.
Students who will be wearing shoes and socks will not be permitted to enter the examination centers, the Bihar School Examination Board said in official notification.
Over 16 lakh aspirants will be appearing for the board examinations at across 1,400 centers this year.
Among many other measures which are taken by the board in an attempt to curb rampant cheating, it also banned the use of erasers and blades. This information is given by news agency IANS. In addition, prohibitory orders will be imposed, banning gathering of more than five persons in the 200 meters area of every exam center. Security forces will also be deployed for preventing cheating.
An official said that they have installed CCTV cameras and have also ordered videography and live to the webcast of examination centers. Apart from all this, the details of every student including names, roll numbers, etc. will be printed on the answer sheets for the first time.
CBSE or Central Board of Secondary Education also has now decided to extend the practice in passing criteria for the Class 10th examination in 2019 onwards and according to that, a student will have to secure an overall 33 percent in both internal assessment and Board examination taken together in the subjects to be eligible to pass that particular subject.
Chairman of CBSE, Anita Karwal, said that to provide relaxation to students, the board has decided to ease the passing criteria for Class 10th students from 2019. The result was computed in last Board exams in each subject taking into consideration combined marks obtained in internal assessment and Board exam and those who secured 33 percent marks were declared pass in that subject.
