Brief History And Guide To Disc Golf

Disc Golf is a kind of flying disc sport in which the players throw the disc on a target. This game is played on similar rules to that of a golf. It is most often played over a course of 9 holes or 18 holes but there are other formats common to the game too. The players will complete a hole by throwing a disc from the tee area towards a target and then, throwing the disc again from the landing position of the disc until the target is reached. Players intent to complete the course in the lowest number of the total throws to complete the targets.

The game is played in a total of 40 countries worldwide and according to a 2017 study, there are a total of 44,000 active members of the Professional Disc Golf Association Worldwide. Disc Golf is a speedily growing sport worldwide and is one of the 4th fastest growing sport in the USA, the first 3 being MMA,Parkour and Roller Derby. According to some stats, there is rapid increase in installed permanent courses with an addition of 200 new courses on an average each year between 2007-2017. Even though most of the players play on a casual or amateur level, there are players who are professionals playing full-time and earning their livings through the tournaments and sponsorships. Online viewership for the game is also increasing rapidly.
