Editorials News | Feb-08-2019
In a first, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has sent a letter of adherence to the parents asking them to support and inspire their children who are appearing for their board examinations.
The board had requested parents to read the letter and submit it back to the school, duly signed with the declaration that they have read the letter clearly.
CBSE has also advised parents to not to mount pressure on their children to perform best. The final CBSE board examination will begin from 15 February. The letter also asks parents to not to gather outside or attempt to enter the examination centers to facilitate smooth entry of the students into the centre and help the staff on duty to pay adequate attention to the examinees.
This is the first time the CBSE board has asked parents to support and inspire their children who will be taking Class 10 and 12 board examination. The school can keep the letter of adherence received from the parents in their custody for future references. The schools will send the compliance report to the head office by February 6. The CBSE board has also advised parents to read the details on the admit card and then sign it.
Many school principals have welcomed the move and said that the move will make parents equally accountable for their wards. Vandna Shahi, principal of BCM School, Dugri, said, that they have uploaded the letter on the school’s website so parents can read it.
Further, she told that class teachers also have been instructed to send a copy of the letter to the parents. This is a very crucial time for the students and if they get the support of their parents, they can perform well in their final examination.
She added that she keep counseling students not to stress themselves and instead give their best during the examination.
Harmeet Kaur Waraich, Principal of Nankana Sahib Public School, said that parents are made accountable and are asked not to mount pressure on their children. This will help a lot, as students can sit for the examination without any stress. And the decision taken by the board will make parents responsible and help their ward to become whatever they dream of.
