CBSE Issues Disaffiliation Notices To 15 Schools

There was a show cause issued by CBSE notices to school managements across the country after 3,500 teachers did not turn up for evaluation of board exam papers, while for repeated violations, 15 disaffiliation notes have been issued as well. The Central Board of Secondary Education has written to the Directorate of Education recommending disciplinary action against schools for more than 200 government school teachers who did not turn up for evaluation, said Anurag Tripathi, the CBSE secretary, on Thursday.

In some cases, private schools have been sent notices he said. According to Tripathi’s statement the board results for class 10 and 12 are likely to be declared by the third week of May.

Following the paper leaking instance that occurred last year, the official said, a special app called CMTM app (Confidential Material Tracking and Monitoring) was launched this time, and it was made compulsory for all centre supervisors to send geo-tagged and time-tagged pictures of exam day processes. At the headquarters and regional office-level, these were monitored very closely.

They followed a zero-error policy for following exam byelaws procedures, and a zero-tolerance policy for mistakes due to ignorance or on purpose.

At all examination centres, the principals were declared as centre superintendents and made personally responsible for the security of the confidential material, Tripathi said. Third-party observers were deployed in all examination centres.

He said that even though exams begin at 10.30 am, before this the candidate could enter the examination hall up to 11.15 am. No candidate, this year, was permitted entry beyond 10 am, adding that only in rare cases where the student met with an accident or there was delay in transportation then they were allowed inside the examination hall after time.

The answer sheets were evaluated by the of board exams on March 14, the official said. With over 3,500 teachers not turning up for evaluation, their respective school managements have been issued show cause notices and will have to shell out a fine of Rs 50,000 for failing to comply with the board's orders.

"In some cases, the schools do not relieve the evaluators, while in some cases the evaluators do not turn up due to their own reasons. There are cases with genuine issues; in these the principals of the schools have to recommend the names of other evaluators," the official said, adding that there are 1.7 crore copies that have to be evaluated.
