Editorials News | Aug-19-2018
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations is a privately_ held national level school education in India which is responsible for conducting the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education and the Indian School Certificate examinations for Class X and Class XII was established in 1958. Previously these examinations were being conducted in India by the University of Cambridge. However, the minister for Education Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad presided over a conference in the year 1952 on all India level certificate Examination and it was decided that a council be set up on the grounds that exams should be conducted in India then by the Cambridge University but after it was optimally tailor made according to the nation's need. More than 2100 schools across India are affiliated with CISCE.
However, Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on August 13th alerted all the affiliated schools that the council’s initiative to hold exams for Class IX and XI in November 2018 and February 2019 currently stands postponed. As per the notice sent to schools by the Council's Chief executive and Secretary Gerry Arathoon, it has been indicated that the exams will be conducted in 2019-20.
As per the new notice to the school Principals the new tentative schedule for exams for class IX and XI will be from November 4th to 25th 2019 and from February 10 to 4th March 2020. The schools have been advised to plan their academic year accordingly.
Lack of Infrastructure seems to be the reason behind this postponement of exams.
