
Creativity and Its Genetic Roots

Scientists at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King's College London have done a study on the people’s behavior. As per the study, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder share genetic factors with creativity. The scientists suggested that genes linked to creativity could have possibilities to develop schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. However it is been unclear if such disorders are associated because of similar genes.
The researchers defines creative people as a person who takes novel approaches requiring cognitive processes that are different from prevailing modes of thought or expression. Moreover, Creativity is difficult to define as per the researchers. Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are known as disorders of thoughts and emotions. People who are affected with these disorders show alterations in cognitive and emotional processing.
Additionally, recent studies have shown that psychiatric disorders such as bipolar disorder are likely to be found in the similar families where creative professions are common.
