Delhi’s Forgotten Historical Gems

Delhi has given shelter to everyone and it’s a place full of historical monuments. These places remind us the stories of ancient times and early India. It’s often called a best destination for tourist.

However, there are many places which are ignored by tourists and residents. There is a treasure trove of monuments out there, waiting to be explored. There are various other structures and monuments and Adham Khan’s Tomb, Mehrauli Village is one of those. This tomb is built by Akbar in 1561 for his foster-brother Adham Khan, son of Maham Anga, who Akbar ordered killed by repeatedly throwing down the walls of the Agra Fort.

As per the history, this tomb is considered unique because of its octagonal shape. Most of the tombs of 3rd century BC are hexagonal. Many people believe that Akbar wanted to build a tomb for Adham in respect for his mother Maham Anga, while making it matchless in the sense that this was a tomb of a traitor.
