Editorials News | Nov-29-2017
Our eating habits are considered as a link to our good or bad health condition. A disturbed and unhealthy eating pattern that include restrictive dieting, compulsive eating or skipping meals are termed as disordered eating. It includes behaviours which reflect many signs of feeding and eating disorders.
A new study has disclosed that there long-term health effects associated with disordered eating in youths. The indicator of disordered eating among 24-year-old women and men are increased body weight, lower psychological well-being, and lower self confidence. At the initial stage it seems very common however it has long term negative effects on health. It also badly affects our psychological wellbeing. It is very important to recognise disordered eating at the early stage and start treatment soon to cure its negative impacts. Eating is called disordered when a person wilfully decides when they are hungry or full, without feeling how they are feeling; drinks non-caloric drinks to avoid the feeling of being hungry; or weighs themselves constantly.
It is also disordered if a person cautiously plans their meal long into the future, if they counts calories of each meal and weighs foods. When a person follows extreme strict diet or removes specific foods from their diet giving health or ethical reasons, while the actual reason is only the weight loss then also it is termed as disordered eating. It is the high time when disordered eating should be taken seriously and cured before it’s too late.
