Durga Puja: A symbol of ‘Shakti’

Durga Puja, also known as Durgotsava, is a religious festival of India. Every year, people from different parts of the country celebrate this event with a great zeal and enthusiasm.

It is said that Durga Puja is particularly celebrated in the state of West Bengal in Kolkata in the honor of celebrating the unfathomable power of Goddess Durga. Durga Puja is a perfect amalgamation of delicious food, colorful dresses and happy faces. People from every age group come and become a part of this 10 days event.

From the sixth day of Navaratri till the ninth day the huge ‘pandaals’ of the Goddess Durga are open for the visitors. The sixth day of the ceremony is called Shashthi where the local community welcomes the goddess and festive celebrations are inaugurated. The tenth day is the most significant day of the Navaratri, known as Dashami. On this day the idols of the Goddess Durga are immerged into the water this process is called as Visarjan.
