Editorials News | Mar-08-2021
Natural disasters are natural ways of warning everybody to slow down. Everything has a saturation point, so does mother Earth. If we put a lot of pressure and push the planet to its limits, the recoil of nature will be there. Humans should have an understanding of righteous development. Deforestation and changing the course of rivers is a common thing done by humans. Natural disasters have their variants.
Earthquakes: The whole world is standing on tectonic plates. These tectonic plates were responsible for the deformation of the supercontinent million years ago. It has made modern landforms. Tectonic plates when moving away from each other or collide with each other leads to earthquakes. Earthquakes are the only natural disasters that cannot be predicted. Since human life prevailed on Earth. Earthquakes have claimed billions of lives. Earthquakes are also the main ingredient of many other disasters.
Tsunami: An evil add-on of the earthquakes. They are usually caused after an earthquake. Tsunamis have also caused millions of deaths to date. Many cities have been submerged underwater due to them. The tsunami of 2011 in Japan is something that cannot be forgotten. The tsunami can be predicted, but it’s very difficult to run and find a safe place as the speed and height of waves are massive in the tsunami.
Floods: Heavy rains, cloud bursts, and many other things can cause floods, it is responsible for heavy economical and human damage every year. The Kedarnath flood is something that is not easy to forget. Thousands died in those floods.
There are many other natural disasters too. This article aims towards the common understanding that Earth has its ways of restoring balance. Nature has superpowers to wipe out the entire human population within days. In this process, nature will only heal itself.
It is our time to understand that we need Earth. Earth doesn’t need us. We are guests here, and we should respect the sanctity of our guest’s homes. Earth has provided us with every resource we need, and we haven’t paid her in the right way. Instead, we have exploited those resources, tortured the natural settings only for our benefits and greed. It’s time we understand and value what we have and repay our debts in the best way possible.
