Enigmatic Cloud of Gas Observed Through Hubble Space Telescope

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) named its space based optical telescope, which is known to be world’s largest after American Astronomer Edwin P. Hubble (1889-1953). That Dr. Hubble gave us the Big Bang Theory after he confirmed the concept of an “expanding” universe.  Hubble Space Telescope is essentially a giant camera but it doesn’t use film. Its instruments capture the light from the Universe with electronic detectors (CCD’s) so it is basically a giant digital camera. It has observed an Enigmatic Cloud, its like a gas object which is known as nebula IRAS 05437+2502 billows out among the bright stars and dark dust clouds.

At first glance it appears to be a small, rather isolated region of star formation, and one might assume that the effects of fierce ultraviolet radiation from bright, young stars probably were the cause of the eye-catching shapes of the gas. However, the bright, boomerang-shaped feature may tell a more dramatic tale. This faint cloud was originally discovered in 1983 by the Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS), the first space telescope to survey the whole sky in infrared light. IRAS was run by the United States, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom and found huge numbers of new objects that were invisible from the ground. Scientist from NASA quoted that “At first glance it appears to be a small, rather isolated region of star formation, and one might assume that the effects of fierce ultraviolet radiation from bright, young stars probably were the cause of the eye-catching shapes of the gas.” Further they mentioned that “The mesmerizing cloud of gas and dust surrounding the formation suggests it may have been created when a young star was ejected from the distant cluster in which it originated, and hurled some 200,000kph (124,000mph) through the dusty gas cloud.”
