Environment and You

Protecting the environment is the biggest challenge that the human race faces today. The reckless cutting of trees and the quest of fulfilling our desires has led to the birth of catastrophic phenomenon like global warming, acid rain, natural calamities and what not. However, here are some remarkable dates of the year when we can really make some difference and that too with a lot of fun and active campaigning.

World Forest Day- 21st March

Each year, various events celebrate and raise awareness of the significance of all types of forests, and trees outside forests, for the benefit of current and future generations. Anyone can actively participate at their home, school or locality.

World Meteorological Day- 23 March

Every year, WMO Members around the world organize local and country-wide celebrations of World Meteorological Day. This year’s theme was ‘Understanding Clouds’ and the participation from the student community was massive.

World Environment Day (WED) - 5 June

It is the United Nation's principal vehicle for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. More than 143 countries actively participated WED this year.

Van Mahotsav Week- 1st of July to 7th of July

Van Mahotsav is an annual tree-planting movement in India, which began in 1950. The name Van Mahotsav means JANGALO KA FESTIVAL. It has gained significant national importance and, every year, millions of saplings are planted across India in observation of Van Mahotsav week. It was initiated by K.M. Munshi.
