Fundamental Rights Of Indians

India is a democratic country where people can choose or elect their representatives by voting. A democratic country like India is said to be for the people, by the people, and from the people. This means that it is for the benefit of the citizens, made by the citizens, and obtained from the people themselves. Just as every other country, our country also has a set of rules which are meant to be followed by each citizen to maintain equality and dignity. These rules are written in a rule book called the constitution. Constitution briefs us about our basic rights and duties. Such rights and duties are called fundamental rights and duties.

Fundamental rights are the basic rights that every citizen of the country deserves. Such fundamental rights are accepted under our country’s laws. Fundamental rights are made for the benefit and protection of the people. Basic seven fundamental rights with their benefits are:

1) Right to equality:

The right to equality says that all citizens are equal before the law and that no discrimination can be made based on religion, caste, economic background, color, race, sex, and other grounds.

2) Right to freedom:

As the name suggests, the right to freedom states that all Indian citizens irrespective of their discriminative grounds have the freedom to speak and express their emotions. Also, it states that the citizens can travel or reside in any part of the world.

3) Right to freedom of religion:

The right to freedom of religion gives the citizens liberty to choose their religion and that nobody can force someone to follow a specific religion.

4) Right against exploitation:

This fundamental right prevents any sort of mistreatment of all citizens. It stands against human trafficking and involuntary labor.

5) Cultural and educational rights:

As one can clearly understand from the name, this right lets the people continue with their culture and carry it forward. It also allows them to study in any educational institution of their choice.

6) No person shall be deprived of his property:

This provision says that no person’s property can be forcefully taken away.

7) Right to constitutional remedies:

This right gives the citizens the power to move to the court in case of any fundamental right violation.

Here were some main fundamental rights described by our constitution. Some other rights include the right to cast vote etc. Don’t stay silent if any of your rights get violated, it’s your RIGHT!
