Global Learning Crisis Has Left Millions Without Basic Skills

Skill development is crucial for our future generation to develop, find jobs and contribute to betterment of the society. But according to data by UNESCO Institute for Statistics, a staggering 617 million children and adolescents do not have proper skills for reading or mathematics. Jobs of future require kids to have strong cognitive skills in mathematics, problem-solving and creative thinking. This learning crisis is alarming from a national economic perspective. Educated individuals are necessary for society as they can make better decisions like vaccinating their children or sending their kids to school.

The crisis is global but more concentrated in low-income regions….

Of the 617 million children, half live in the G20. Most brunt is being bore by Central and Southern Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. These countries are suffering a massive waste of talent and a huge loss of human potential. Some of the wealthier regions such as North America and Europe are impacted too. 20% of the adolescents in these areas don't have the basic skill set to move ahead.

Young people who don't have primary education have more chances of unemployment…

People in between the ages of 15-24 who are not in education, employment or working have less than a primary education.

We need a significant investment to train millions of children around the world so as to help with the well-being of our families and communities.
