Glowworm Caves Becomes Tourists Attraction

Glow worm caves which are exclusively found in New Zealand are among the main tourists attraction. New Zealand is known for the population of glowworms, Arachnocampa luminosa. These popular caves are situated in the southern Waikato region of the North Island of New Zealand. The cave is a part of the Waitomo Caves system that includes the Ruakuri Cave and the Aranui Cave.  According to the studies this species are as small as an average mosquito. These species laminates the entire cave by their blue-green lights that develop a scene of a starry sky.

According to the researchers Glow worm refers to various groups of insect larvae and adult larviform females that glow through bioluminescence. These species may sometimes look like worms, but actually they are from the category of insects. There are some special features of these worms that they can glow as long as a match stick and they sometimes resemble a maggot. The secret of their glow is under their tail that glows because of chemical reactions, called bioluminescence.
