Editorials News | Jan-28-2019
In today’s technological world, every now and then new games and latest technologies come up. One of the most popular game these days is PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. It is fondly known as “PubG”. It is a 2017 online multiplayer battle royale game.
It has been developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene for other games. It is inspired by the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale, and expanded into a standalone game under Greene's creative direction. During the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island and start searching for weapons and equipment to kill the other players. The player has to save himself from getting killed. With time, the available safe area for playing the game keeps decreasing. This forces the players to shift into tighter areas which increases the rate of encounters between the players. The player who survives till the end, wins. The youngsters, children and even adults are highly addicted to this game. The game involves a lot of violence and bloodshed because of which it is not being considered very safe for the children. Children are getting distracted from their studies and devoting majority of their time in playing PubG. Also, children have started acting very aggressively due to these games. In furtherance of the same, and in order to control the situation, the government of Gujarat has issued a circular to the district authorities in order to impose a ban on online multi-player game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, fondly known as PUBG. This circular has been issued upon the recommendations of the Gujarat State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The District Education officers have been directed to impose a strict ban upon the playing of the game in primary schools. The reason behind the imposing of the ban is that the game is affecting the studies of the students in adverse ways. The students are getting distracted from their studies greatly. The NCPCR has also addressed a letter to all the states and has recommended a ban on the playing of the game by primary school children. The letter states that all the states are required to implement it. Indeed, if the game gets banned, it will be an effective step in the field of education sector.
