Home-schooling in the Era of Remote Learning

As we all know that the COVID 19 pandemic spread worldwide and has caused several deaths, people were quarantined and were following social distancing. We as students were attending online classes and most of our parents were doing work from home. During this work from home, most of the parents were able to spare time for their family and especially their kids.

During this time in the era of remote learning, many parents started homeschooling their kids instead of making them attend online classes with their peers. Now the question arises that, Homeschooling is a new way of educating kids from home. Here, well-educated parents spend time with their kids and teach them at home. They do not send their kids to any educational institute. This teaching way is widely gaining popularity but still, it is not that significant in India. This thing has both good and bad aspects linked with it. Some of the good aspects were:

  • Parents were able to spend more time with their kids and were able to know about each other.
  • A lot of money is saved by the student’s parent as there were no fees, just the cost of some fundamental items.
  • Parents can control what their kids should know and what they should not.

So, now let’s know the bad aspects linked to homeschooling.

  • Parents are well educated but of course, they are not qualified in all subjects. Thus not making homeschooling successful for higher classes.
  • Every day it won’t be possible for parents to spend 4-5 school hours continuously for their kids.
  • Ultimately, we all learn from our surroundings and the people. Whether it is online or offline, more people around means more things we learn. Thus just parents around is not a good choice.
