How Plastics Contribute To Climate Change

Plastic pollution is considered to be the major cause of climate change because it involves the accumulation of plastic products in the environment that adversely bring impact wildlife, humans, or wildlife habitat. Plastics are categorized into micro, macro debris based on the size as pollutants due to which it can bring adverse effect on lands, oceans, waterways, marine animals, living organisms can also be affected through direct absorption of plastic waste.

Plastics are typically organic polymers of high molecular mass and often contain other substances as we produce roughly 300 million tons of plastic each year out of which half of it is disposable, Whereas, on the other side 10-13% of plastic items are recycled Worldwide. Plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental issues as it is rapidly increasing the accumulation of disposable plastic products which creates a drastic change in the climate.

We know that the use of one-time plastics creates a health hazard and is harmful to us and also for the environment yet we use plastics every day in our life. So we should try to create awareness by taking majors steps in order to eradicate the use of plastics bottles and polythenes and go for the use of biodegradable bags which are environmentally friendly so that we can save our environment and can promote the message of sustainable development.

We can take a drastic step for a sustainable environment by banning the use of plastic carry bags, plastic banners, plastic flags, plastic cup-plates, plastic spoons, etc to save the environment from degradation and combat health hazard. Our main motive should be to reduce the usage of one-time plastic and to create awareness among the people about the adverse effects of plastic as plastics are nonbiodegradable and it will be present in our soil, water which will create a problem for the environment as a whole. We should try to take some major step because plastics contribute to climate change in a drastic manner as we all are aware that one of the most common types of plastics found in the ocean as it releases greenhouse gases which break down in the environment. Plastic is a very bad impact on climate as it not only poses an immense pollution problem but also increases the worst side of climate change.

Thus, we should try to stop plastic pollution for a healthy sustainable environment by recycling plastic which will not only require a large amount of energy but will also use large quantities of water. While getting rid of plastic waste is the primary problem of the environment which is a leading cause of carbon emissions contributing to global warming as well as toxic chemicals reach out of plastic creates problems and are found in the blood and tissue of nearly all of us due to which one face issues in health which cause cancer, birth defects, endocrine disruption, and major other ailments.
