How We Can Create More Job Creators Than Job Seekers?
Editorials News | Apr-29-2020
This question is indeed the need of the hour. Unemployment in recent times has emerged as a dangerous social evil. This problem, in turn, is weakening the economic framework of the country. It’s time high now that we must focus on this issue. The answer to the problem is not simple.
Actually the problem is two-sided. On one side overgrowing population is exerting tremendous pressure on the country’s existing employment system, on the other side, social problems are taking a lead. Illiteracy, lack of awareness, occupational division of labor, unwanted social hierarchies, declining conditions of unorganized sectors are various problems that are to be dealt with strictly. Initially, in order to resolve these problems, the Government and the administration need to take an insight into the local and unorganized sectors. We need to incorporate innovative policies like MNREGA 2005. Initially, many steps have been taken up by the government. These include – setting up skill development centers, skill development courses, etc. These policies require reconstruction so that they can suit the needs of the local and rural people. Most of the policies are usually based on the urban landscape. The planning commission needs to coordinate and gather employment inputs from the local self-governments like panchayat and Zila Parishad.
Innovative policies need a boost. The policies should not only provide massive opportunities for employment but they should also focus on delivering better education and skill knowledge at the school level.
The vocational subjects must be encouraged at both the high school level as well as the intermediate level. The emerging sectors of employment like tertiary services must be improved. We all know that there is no scope of any massive development in the agricultural and manufacturing sector so the government must focus on the service sector. Alone the tourism sector can employ +35 Million people if it is rapidly integrated. Even the education sector if improved can provide jobs to +20 Million people. These facts are provided by the NITI AYOG and NSSO but these facts will remain only facts until we realize the importance of upcoming industries.
As a conclusion, India has the largest youth network and we can derive maximum output from them. But this task is impossible without emancipating unemployment.
