Importance of Social Development In A Child

Social development basically refers to how a child learns to interact with other people around them. As they grow, their individuality evolves as well. This gives them the skills to communicate with others around them and how to perceive their actions. This basically gives a pathway to how a child will develop friendships and foster other relationships, and how he handles any disputes with his peers.
Significance of social development:
Social development can actually have an impact on a lot of other forms of development for a child. It can have an influence on almost everything from forming healthy friendships in school to taking criticism positively and resisting peer pressure and successfully becoming a mature adult. Healthy social development can help with:
• Develop Language Skills: As the communication skills of a child improve, he would be able to relate and react better with the people around him. When a child interacts more with others, he has more opportunities to learn both speech and language skills.
• Boost Self Esteem: When a child communicates with those around him, he is able to experience positive, exciting, and fun experiences. And a child who isn't able to make friends can feel lonely and frustrating. Therefore, having a healthy and stable relationship can help in building a child's comfort and confidence with more people over time.
• Build Learning Skills: A lot of research work has shown that having healthy relationships since school time can affect general communication skills in children when they become adults as well. Studies have also shown that children who don't develop good relationships with their classmates and peers are more likely to experience problems in the academic area as well.
• Resolve disputes: Good self-esteem and language skills can help a child to better able to handle disputes with their peers. This will further strengthen his individuality.
• Set up a positive attitude: A positive attitude towards life is important especially in this age of social media where children are constantly pitted against each other. An affirmative perspective can also help in dealing with failures and build perseverance.
