India Taking Steps In Development Of Basketball

The status of basketball in India has been on the scale of incline over the past few years. The country has been receiving help from the most popular league in term of infrastructure and training as well.

NBA Basketball School is a network of tution-based basketball development programs around the world. The mission of NBA Basketball School is to inspire young athletes and to provide a unique development opportunity through exposure to established coaches with proven training techniques. The National Basketball Association set up its first school in Mumbai in April, 2017 and thus made its entry into India. It was later followed by the establishment of NBA Academy in Greater Noida in NCR. After establishing in Greater Noida is enhanced and later various academies were settled in New Delhi and Pune. Kim Bohuny, senior vice-president of NBA's International Basketball Operations spoke on a host of topics, from BWB's inception, the growth of the sport in India as well as the women's game. Bohuny was asked ‘does India have the potential to be a basketball superpower in the coming years? To which she said “Well I think India's taking the right steps. You have a very large population that loves sports, right?”
