Jharkhand: Changing Face of Education

The Jharkhand Government signed three memorandums of understandings with three different NGOs that work in the sector of school education on a zero investment innovation model. The three NGOs will be working in different spheres of school education that need improvement with just administrative support from the government and no financial assistance or investment.

These three NGOs are Lend-a Hand, Teacher's App and Piramal Foundation.

Lend-a Hand is a nonprofit venture that was launched in the year 2003 by young professional based out of New York. It has its program headquarters located in Pune and this organization deals with providing vocational training, career development, employment, and entrepreneurial opportunities to young boys and girls in rural and urban communities. Lend-a hand will collaborate with the state education department to develop a skill based educational curriculum for the secondary and senior secondary classes.

Teacher's App: the Teacher's App is a nonprofit organization that provides training to teachers. It actually takes the training to the teachers rather than the other way round. The Teacher's App will provide the teachers with necessary training through online teaching aids throughout the state.

Piramal Foundation is a philanthropic venture of Piramal Group that undertakes philanthropic projects under four different categories, healthcare, education, livelihood Creation and youth empowerment. Piramal Foundation will work for improving over all students learning outcomes in the government schools in Jharkhand.

The state is looking at revamping the school education setup consolidating departments and merging schools with fewer students with the larger schools so that the students could make best use of the available resources.
