Luke Jackson, Projected 2019 Top-10 Draft Pick, Chooses Football Over Basketball

Multi-talented teenager Luke Jackson has decided to nominate himself for AFL draft next year. This decision puts aside a bright future of him in the field of basketball. The 16-year old player for WA announced his choice during the NBA Academy Games and Basketball Australia Prospects Camp in Canberra. He just gave a remarkable performance at the FIBA under-17 World Cup. Jackson said that the decision has helped in removing a weight off his shoulders. The young star is a member of the AFL academy and starred for WA at under-18 championships of 2018.

The teenager has planned a meeting with Luke Power, an academy coach that will map out his next 18 months. His return to football will not occur until annual under-17 showcase. Jackson is devoted to finish the State Basketball league with the Willetton Tigers. The team has qualified for the play-offs. Jackson has a rare mix of ability in the air and ground levels which has made it so obvious for him to have been spoken about at the first-round selection of the 2019 draft. He can even be included in the top-10 pick. His decision is a victory for AFL but a huge loss for Australian basketball. He does intent to focus on the Australian rules and stick with AFL through the future but a return to basketball will certainly not be ruled out for him.
